X Infopoverty World Conference: “How Technologies can defeat poverty and achieve the Millennium Development Goals”

The X Infopoverty World Conference will be organized by the Observatory for Cultural and Audiovisual Communication (OCCAM), the Infopoverty Institute of the University of Oklahoma and the European parliament.

The Infopoverty World Conference 2010 will show how the Digital Revolution has become one of the key factors of development in industrialized markets. The main goal of this conference is to raise awareness and identify the uses of innovation and new technologies that can help achieve the MDGs.

After the opening session, the main sessions of the event present the following topics:

 The role of ICTs to improve food security
 Global surveyor ICT4D
 Best practices for sustainable development
 Digital opportunities for the UN System
 For an integration of development policies: which operative convergences are possible?

The closing session will end with the approval of a Final Declaration.

Participants of the X Infopoverty World Conference are representatives from Governments, the United Nations system, private sector, civil society, international organizations, academia and practitioners.
