Fundación Cisneros

The Fundación Cisneros is a private foundation dedicated to enriching education in Latin America and increasing global awareness of Latin America's contributions to world culture. Founded by Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, Gustavo Cisneros, and Ricardo Cisneros, in association with the Cisneros Group of Companies, the Fundación Cisneros draws on the multifaceted resources of the Cisneros Group, especially its advanced media technologies, to build its innovative programs and partnerships. Reuters: U.S. and U.N. to cooperate on global digital library

The Library of Congress and UNESCO will cooperate to develop a digital library of works from around the world, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization said on Wednesday.

"The World Digital Library initiative will digitize unique and rare materials from libraries and other cultural institutions around the world and make them available free of charge on the Internet," Paris-based UNESCO said in a statement.

The topic of this book is "social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom," to use the noble words of the preamble to the United Nations Charter. The book is organized around the six core values that form the basis of the Millennium Declaration, adopted by world leaders at the Millennium Summit in 2000.

These six core values are freedom, solidarity, quality, tolerance, respect for nature and our shared responsibility, and each will serve as the basis for a chapter.
