AllAfrica: Digital Divide - UN Seeks Partnership With ICT Industry

The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) took its campaign to Silicon Valley, California with the aim of cementing ties with the private sector and promoting the use of state-of-the-art in ICT to bridge the digital divide across the world.

A statement from the ITU, a United Nations body, said its Secretary-General, Hamadoun I. Touré conferred with some of the leading lights of Silicon Valley at a meeting in Mountain View, California.
