International Taskforce on Women and ICTs Annual Leadership Meeting Report, 9 – 10 December 2007, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

ITF LogoThe International Taskforce on Women and ICTs (ITF) held their annual leadership meeting in December 2007 in Kuala Lumpur bringing together a small number of high-level leaders to move forward on the outcomes of the Paris meeting hosted at UNESCO in November 2006. This meeting, organized by the ITF, was co-hosted by the United Nations Global Alliance for ICT and Development (UN GAID) under the patronage of the Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP).

The ITF meeting preceded the Third Global Knowledge Conference (GK3), which brought together over 1,700 visionaries, international leaders, practitioners, and policy makers to engage on the theme of Emerging People, Emerging Markets, Emerging Technologies. It provided an ideal venue to begin developing the ITF’s overarching strategy for the next three years and next-stage activities for implementation of a Global Framework, which consists of ten Regional Centers for women and technology and a coordinating Global Hub that will amplify the impact of the collective intelligence around the world on behalf of women and girls in four target areas: secondary and tertiary education, workforce development, entrepreneurship, and leadership.

53 participants from 21 countries participated in this important meeting of the ITF.
