Le Forum mondial sur la jeunesse et les technologies de l'information et des communications (TIC) en faveur du développement s'est achevé, hier, à Genève. Lors de cette rencontre de trois jours organisée conjointement par les Nations Unies, l'Alliance mondiale pour les TIC et le développement et l'Union internationale des télécommunications, des jeunes du monde entier ont souhaité être plus largement impliqués dans les initiatives qui mettent en œuvre les TIC pour faire face aux défis mondiaux.

Young people attending a United Nations-backed summit in Geneva have asked to be involved in initiatives that utilize information and communications technology (ICT) to tackle global challenges.
"Many youth organizations", said Sarbuland Khan, Executive Director of the Global Alliance for ICT and Development, "have come forward to tell us that they want to remain engaged in creating youth centres of excellence and global youth networks that place ICT in the service of development."

Young people, who are the most enthusiastic and knowledgeable users of information and communication technology (ICT), will engage in discussions with their peers and with leaders from Government, the private sector, civil society and the technology community at an event to be held in Geneva from 24 to 26 September.

L'Alliance mondiale des Nations Unies pour les technologies de l'information et des communications (TIC) au service du développement a lancé aujourd'hui le site Internet (http://un-gaid.org/fr/gfyouth) du Forum sur la jeunesse et les TIC au service du développement, qui doit se tenir du 24 au 26 septembre à Genève, en Suisse.

The United Nations Global Alliance for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for Development today launched the website of the Forum on Youth and ICT for Development, to be held on 24-26 September in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Youth Forum aims to involve young people in discussions with policymakers, thought leaders and representatives from the private sector and civil society, and to explore ways to empower them and encourage their full participation in society through the use of information and communications technology.

Egypt's "Cyber Peace Initiative" gained the appraisal and recognition of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) world experts at the "Youth and ICT as Agents for Change" forum held from September 24 – 26 in Geneva.
Egypt's First Lady Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak contributed to discussions of the international event by presenting 12 issues related to the "Cyber Peace Initiative" like ICT in education and health as well as the development wheel driven by the Egyptian youth.

TAGorg is in the process of launching a global youth initiative called ICT for Global Youth Center (ICTGYC). The Center will hold an annual conference entitled "ICT for Youth Forum" and will establish a knowledge center "Tomorrow Youth Professionals Center" to support projects and ideas spurred by the conference.
This initiative will encourage an open and result-oriented dialogue (followed by actions) among young people and other concerned stakeholders aimed at tackling problems such as; poverty, education and economic situation in the developing world.

A gathering of young people from around the world committed their collective effort "to eradicate poverty and improve the human condition". As new technologies foster communication and facilitate the exchange of information, the Global Forum on Youth and ICT for Development pledged its support for the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). They declared their objective to use information and communication technologies (ICT) "to develop new methods to relieve the intolerable suffering in the world" and to "leverage our familiarity with technology to improve the lives of the impoverished."

UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon called technology "one of the most powerful agents of change in our world today" at a development summit this week.
Speaking at the Global Forum on Youth and ICT for Development, held in Geneva from Monday to Wednesday, Mr Ban called on young people to harness the power of the digital revolution to tackle global challenges.

Stressing the growing role of information and communication technology (ICT) in the quest for development, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today called on youth attending a United Nations-backed summit to harness the power of the digital revolution to tackle global challenges.
"The digital revolution has increased young people's capacity to bring about positive social change," Mr. Ban said in a message to the Global Forum on Youth and ICT for Development, which began in Geneva today.

The realities of the ICT and Youth dynamic have come to the attention of the international community, who recognize the incredible potential for development, that understanding these dynamics may foster. The Global Forum on Youth and ICT for Development (properly titled "Youth and ICT as agents of change") to be held in Geneva from 24 to 26 September 2007, is one of the most current initiatives to highlight this issue.

September 24-26 the Global Alliance for ICT and Development (GAID), and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) will host the Global Forum on Youth and ICT for Development: Youth and ICT as Agents of Change in Geneva, Switzerland.
