Center of training, creation and dissemination of knowledge on participation, contribution and demands of women in Science and Technology. Created in 2001 with the support of UNESCO, it is located in the Latin American School of Social Sciences (FLACSO).
Through a network of academic institutions, multilateral organisms and Latin American governmental and civil society organizations, it develops the REGIONAL PROGRAM “GENDER EQUITY IN THE INFORMATION SOCIETY.”
This Program includes various activities: research, training, incidence on regional and national policies, dissemination and production of training multimedia materials, virtual mentoring and creation and management of virtual communities of practice.
Their main research lines approach, from the gender perspective, the field of learning technologies, access, uses and appropriation of ICT by youth and gender mainstreaming policies and programs related to Information Society.
It develops workshops and virtual courses on gender, science and technology with large participation of educators in Latin America and Spain.
It offers consultancy service in this field for various regional and international organizations.
It carries out an active role in organizations and events devoted to formulation, implementation and evaluation of policies related to the Information Society in Latin America and worldwide.
It represented Latin America in the Gender Caucus of the Information Society World Summit.
It acts as specialized partner in Gender and ICT of the Observatory of the Latin American Information Society ECLAC and of the Science and Technology Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS).
