Q: What does the GAID-LAC site offer?
A: The GAID-LAC site offers:
  • a way to connect to other stakeholders through a partner directory and thematic forums
  • links to resources (documents, events, projects) on ICT4D in LAC organized by theme
  • Q: How were the resources identified?
    A: Documents and other resources were obtained by researching global ICT4D sites as well as broad development themed sites in Latin America. Data that dealt specifically with ICT4D in LAC was selected for inclusion. We welcome suggestions for resources not presently included.
    Q: How much of the data is translated in English and Spanish?
    A: The GAID-LAC site is available in English and Spanish so that our users can identify information easily. Documents hosted on external sites that are only available in one language are marked as such.
    Q: Who can join the GAID LAC Network?
    A: Participation in the GAID LAC Network is voluntary and open to any actor committed to work towards development goals through the implementation of ICTs in Latin America and the Caribbean. Members are encouraged to propose innovative solutions and partnerships and share their experiences with the Network.
    Q: How can non-governmental organizations get involved?
    A: As equal partners and important stakeholders, civil society can participate through a number of GAID engagement mechanisms, including Policy Dialogues, Regional Networks and Partnership Initiatives. In these areas, such organizations have a crucial role to play in helping to foster partnerships and produce substantive action.
    Q: Are there any financial obligations?
    A: The GAID and the GAID LAC Network are voluntary initiatives, and do not collect any fees. However, we encourage financial contributions and sponsorships to support our programmes and initiatives.
