GAID LAC Steering Group Minimize

Composition

The LAC Steering Group is composed of active and committed regional representatives, designated for a one year renewable term in their personal capacity after consultation with stakeholder networks, and bearing in mind the need to ensure stakeholder, gender, and institutional balances.

Functions

Members of Steering Group:

  • Coordinate the work and initiatives of the GAID LAC Network and define the medium and long-term priorities of the Network in consultation with all relevant stakeholders;
  • Facilitate and create platforms for better coordination and enhanced complementarity among existing programmes and initiatives; develop and implement regional work programmes along GAID's four focus areas namely: education, health, governance and entrepreneurship;
  • Promote awareness and advocacy campaigns on regional ICT for development initiatives at the global and regional levels, with the support of the GAID Secretariat and networks;
  • Promote fundraising and mobilization of resources for the Network in support of its initiatives, activities and events;
  • Promote the objectives of GAID through outreach with governments, business leaders, civil society, academic institutions and technology communities;
  • Bring to the attention of the GAID Steering Committee and Strategy Council, regional perspectives and needs relevant to ICT for development; inform GAID, on significant regional developments and initiatives;
  • Report periodically to the GAID; prepare reports on activities and outcomes to all stakeholders in the region, including governments, business leaders, civil society, academia and technology communities.
